Principal's Message
Hello everyone.
Taking 2025 Enrolments now
Enrolments for all year levels are open and Prep enrolments for next year are now welcome. Children born between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020 are eligible to enrol for Prep. Early Entry Applications for students born in July 2020 may also be submitted for consideration. An original birth certificate is essential for enrolment. An enrolment form can be downloaded from this newsletter, our website or parents are welcome to pick up an enrolment pack from our front office.
Prep Transition Program
Our dates are confirmed for this year's transition program - a great opportunity for children and families alike, to feel more settled with moving on to Prep and to Cranbrook School next year.
Please call our office to book your place.
Eavesdropping on Researchers
The Autism Hub's Eavesdropping on Researchers and Eavesdropping on Experts series, is a collection of videos showcasing local and overseas experts sharing autism research, evidence-based practices and practical tips for teachers and parents.
For these series, as well as more information about how school communities can embrace autism, visit the Autism Hub Website.
Kids do Better when Parents are Involved in School Life
Recent research confirms that family involvement in education can improve future opportunities for children, regardless of background. For tips on the best way to positively support your child’s education and future success, try the Triple P - Positive Parenting Program. It’s free in Queensland.
Helping your Child to Learn
Did you know that there are some simple things parents can do to help their children learn across all year levels? Talking with your child about their learning and goals, and limiting screen time can make a difference.
For more ideas on ways to engage with your child’s learning visit Education Queensland's webpage, via the link below.
Academic Achievement Awards
At our Junior and Senior Parades over the next few weeks, students who have achieved highly on their report cards for Semester One, will be awarded an Academic Achievement Award. Parents will also be invited to attend the recognition of this amazing achievement, BUT, we like to keep it a secret from these students until the day!
Congratulations to these Cranbrook Learners on their outstanding achievement, demonstrating commitment and excellence towards their learning.
(The criteria is: Year 3 require 4 x As / Year 4 require 5 x As / Year 5 & 6 - 6 x As.)
NAPLAN Results
NAPLAN results have been returned and sent home with students who participated.
School Opinion Survey
The suite of School Opinion Surveys is undertaken each year by the Department of Education to obtain opinions about our school from families, school staff and students in target year levels (5, 6, 8 and 11). The surveys will help identify what we are doing well and understand where we can improve.
The survey invitation was emailed in the week beginning 15 July and is titled School Opinion Survey for Parents and Caregivers 2024. Each school family will receive one email invitation from the Department of Education to complete the Parent/Caregiver Survey. The survey is anonymous, and the results are not reported in ways that an individual’s response can be identified by the school. Parents/Caregivers are encouraged to complete the survey. The survey can be completed via computers, tablets or smart phones with an internet connection. For Parents/Caregivers who do not have access to the internet school computers/tablets will be available. Parents/caregivers who experience difficulties accessing the survey can request a new survey from the School Opinion Survey team via email schoolopinionsurvey@qed.qld.gov.au.
It’s important that as many parents/caregivers as possible complete the survey.
Can’t find your invitation? If your family has more than one parent/caregiver, check that they haven’t received the invitation and/or check your junk email folder.
Have You Registered for QParents Yet?
Are you using QParents to stay in contact with our school and to access information about your child’s schooling? If you haven’t yet registered for QParents, please send us a request to admin@cranbrookss.eq.edu.au.
QParents is a great way to stay informed about what’s happening in your child’s school life.
Lost Property
We ALWAYS have items sitting in our lost property. Even if you've asked your child to check, it's worth you popping in for a look!
Please remember to clearly label all of your child's belongings. Thank you.

PBL - Positive Behaviour for Learning
Week 3 and we looked at being respectful and showing self respect, courtesy and pride.
This week, we looked at being responsible and acting as an upstander.
Below are the 'for families' poster of our lessons, which gives you a chance to continue these conversations at home and possibly apply them to your daily family life.
With our NAIDOC Parade last week, we didn't have a Snappy Draw recipient, however, this week, congratulations goes to Hazel!
Our weekly $10 'Golden Snap' draw for Week 4, went to Elijah!

Thanks to all those students who have already sent back their forms.

School Tree Planting Day
Last Thursday, our Environmental Captains joined with other Townsville schools, to participate in Tree Planting Day at Riverway.
Tree Day is a great way to inspire students to learn about the local environment while playing an active role in their community. Council provided schools with native Australian and Townsville plants which are well suited to our climate and conditions. They are plants that use less water and are more resilient to our dry tropics weather. They also have the added benefit of helping our region’s pollinators and endemic fauna to increase biodiversity.
Our captains thoroughly enjoyed their experience! Thanks for taking them, Mr Capell.
Families of Year 6 Students
To add an extra special something to our Year 6 Graduation this year, please email through a photo of your child from their Prep year. Many thanks!
