Principal's Message
Welcome to our Week 4 Newsletter!
We encourage you to read through carefully to ensure you don’t miss any important updates or upcoming events.
About respectful relationships education
Respectful relationships education is a primary prevention approach that aims to stop violence before it starts, by changing people's attitudes about respect and equality.
It involves the explicit teaching of the skills and knowledge needed to develop positive and respectful relationships.
Effective respectful relationships education addresses the drivers of domestic, family and sexual violence. It looks at gender inequality, gender roles and stereotypes and challenges disrespectful attitudes and tolerance of violence, in an age-appropriate way.
Respectful relationships education is required learning of the Prep to Year 10 Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education which includes focus areas such as relationships and sexuality, mental health and wellbeing, and safety. These focus areas ensure students develop an understanding about the rights and ethical responsibilities of individuals in respectful relationships. Respectful relationships education in schools may also be delivered through school pastoral care programs and through student learning and wellbeing programs. Schools may choose to engage external providers to enhance curriculum delivery.

Uniform Reminder
We kindly remind parents to ensure that students have a spare school uniform, including underwear and socks, packed in their school bag each day. This helps us manage any unexpected accidents or spills that may occur throughout the day. Please note that the office has limited spare uniform items available to loan.
Principals Day 2025!
Last Friday we celebrated Principal’s Day, recognising and thanking our Principal and Deputy Principals for their dedication, leadership, and the positive impact they have on our school community.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Every Day Counts - Attendance ✔✔✔
Regular, punctual attendance at school is expected of all students.
Students should be present at school ready to prepare for the day's learning by 8:30am.

Late Arrivals
Students arriving after 8:50am must report to the office to receive a lateslip. If a student is late, a letter of explanation from the student's parent/guardian must be presented to the office staff on arrival.
Absence
If a student is absent and the parent/guardian has not notified the school, they will receive an automated text message by 10am that day.
Parents will receive a text message informing them that their child is absent. If you receive one of these text messages, please contact the school to explain the reason for your child’s absence.
A working mobile number should be registered with the school, if available.
Please remember that absence is only marked for the days specified by the parents. If you ring up on a Monday informing that your child is sick and they remain away from school for the following 2 days because they are sick you need to inform us that this was the reason for their absence. You can inform us after the absence via a message directly to the teacher or by contacting our absence hotline or email.
If your child is absent, please leave a message detailing:

- Class
- Reason for absence
- Dates or duration of absence

During their visit, students took part in a variety of engaging cultural activities, including traditional dancing, face painting, storytelling, and art workshops. The Cranbrook Community Hub 👋

Hello everyone.
The Hub is our adult space. We want our parents/carers to use it for what they need – a bit of rest and respite, a place to safely talk, where to go to meet up with fellow class families and to meet new ones, a place to enjoy activities you may not ordinarily do.
You can find our Hub, by entering via the Albert Street gate, Gate D, near the pedestrian crossing. Come in and take the 1st path to your left. We are in the 2nd building on your left, the room closest to the fence.
Thank you very much to everyone who completed the online survey for us. We appreciate your feedback and will contact you soon, as applicable.
Here’s what we have on this week. Don’t panic if you are not right on time for an activity – we’d still love to have you. Just give me a call if you’re unsure.
Monday – Walking Group: we will enjoy a little stroll or a brisk walk, depending on how we’re feeling! We recommend you wear sun protective clothing, enclosed shoes and bring a water bottle. Feel free to then stay around for a coffee.
Tuesday – GenM group: of the mature age group? Our Grandparents, along with a bunch from our wider community in their ‘golden’ years, are enjoying a time of social connection over a cuppa and games. Know anyone who would like this? Please let them know.
Wednesday – It’s Wellness Wednesday. Join us to simply relax and enjoy some mindfulness activities.
Thursday – Playgroup! Join us in the OSHC TheirCare building from 9 – 10.30am. This week we are celebrating NAIDOC with lots of fun activities.
Friday – NAIDOC celebrations in The Hub. Join us after parade for morning tea and activities. All welcome!
Have a question? Please feel free to contact me: communityhub@cranbrookss.eq.edu.au / 0477004723
Have a great weekend!

Honouring two decades of advocacy |
Today we unveil ‘Don’t Waste It’ - The Daniel Morcombe Story, a powerful documentary film reflecting on two decades of child safety advocacy from The Daniel Morcombe Foundation. This powerful 30-minute documentary honours Daniel’s legacy and educates teens on personal safety. This film is quite different to all the others we regularly share with you. Heritage Films has had the honour to produce Don't Waste It as part of the Foundation’s incredible 20-year celebrations. What an incredible legacy and what a wonderful way to honour Daniel, Bruce and Denise and the Foundation’s legacy for the way they have tirelessly worked to keep children safe.
