Principal's Message
Welcome to our Week 10 newsletter! You're almost there! Be sure to read through the newsletter so you don’t miss any important updates.
2025 Class allocation
Parents and students will receive their class allocation for 2025 today, Friday 6 December.
As with any release of information some students and parents may be pleased or disappointed with the situation they are placed in.
If you strongly object to either the teacher placement or their peers, you are requested to put your request in writing and outline the EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES that would deem it necessary to move classes.
Please forward your requests to The Principal by Friday, 13 December and mark your correspondence PRIVATE and CONFIDENTIAL. A decision will be made on all requests the week before school begins so new enrolments can be taken into account. No early decisions will be made.
Please be aware that these lists are only DRAFT and the final class lists, teachers and rooms will only be finalised in 2025 after Day 8.

Year 6 Graduation
The Year 6 Graduation will be held on Monday 9 December, 6pm in the Excelsior Hall at Kirwan State High School. A reminder that students with outstanding SRS fees will not be receiving an invitation to the graduation unless other financial arrangements have been made.

Snappy Money Winner!

Congratulations Nathalia on winning the Snappy Money for this week!

Golden Snap Winner!
Congratulations Dakoda on being this week's Golden Snappy Winner!
For Week 9, our PBL lesson was about being respectful of others people's privacy and property.
In Week 10, we focused on being resilient.
Here are the flyers with some handy hints with what and how to chat about this at home.
From The Arts
We are incredibly grateful for our talented and dedicated arts teachers, who stepped up with amazing creativity and enthusiasm in a time of need. When the weather forced the cancellation of our planned Christmas carol event, they quickly and effortlessly rallied together to put on a truly impromptu and heartwarming holiday performance. As you will see, they crafted a spontaneous Christmas carols concert that was nothing short of magical. Their ability to adapt and create such a joyful experience on the fly is a testament to their passion for the arts and their commitment to bringing the holiday spirit to life. We couldn't be more thankful for their hard work and positive energy in making this special moment possible for everyone!
Videos of their mini concert will be sent via Newsflash next week!
Year 5 Fundraising Stall

Our Year 5 students have been learning about saving the Great Barrier Reef from climate change and have created fundraisers to raise money for the Great Barrier Reef.
Please support our students next week, if you can! All profits will go towards planting more trees at the school.
Congratulations!
We are absolutely thrilled and incredibly proud to announce that Annalise and Bonnie have won the prestigious Festive Flag Competition, organised by the local Council! This remarkable achievement highlights their talent, creativity, and hard work. The girls were honoured with their award and beautiful gifts during the recent Parade, where they were presented with their accolades by Councillor Andrew Robinson. Their dedication and effort truly shone through, and this win is a testament to their passion and skill. What an outstanding accomplishment, and we couldn’t be prouder of these two amazing young individuals! This achievement reflects not only their individual talents but also the strong sense of community and creativity they bring to everything they do. Congratulations, Annalise and Bonnie, on this well-deserved recognition!

Stem & Solid Pathway Awards

We have had so many students receive recognition of different academic achievements this term including our Stem Students and also Solid Pathway Students. We are looking forward to seeing their dedication to grow and flourish as they are given opportunities to be independent and take on more academic challenges in the future.
From your P&C
At the last P&C general meeting held on the 20th November 2024 the committee members made the following decisions.
Due to the increased costs passed onto us by suppliers the committee agreed that an increase to some uniform items in 2025 was necessary. The committee deliberated over this decision for some time. The Cranbrook P&C have always prioritised providing families with access to uniforms at the best value possible. The price increases are the minimum amounts to ensure costs are covered without increasing profit margins to ensure we are still providing the best valued uniforms for our families.
Uniform Price Summary 2025
Polycotton Everyday Polo $32.00
Sublimate Everyday Polo $35.00
Sublimate Sports Polo $35.00
Shorts and Skorts $27.00
Custom Jackets $50.00
The following items remain at the same low prices
Hats $15.00
Dress $50.00
Fleece Jumpers $30.00
Tuckshop Closure
The Tuckshop will be closed from Wednesday 11th December for the end of year cleaning. No tuckshop available 11th, 12th and 13th of December 2024.
Swimming Carnival
The P&C will NOT be providing a sausage sizzle and drinks stall at the Swimming Carnival being held on Wednesday 11th December 2024 and due to the Tuckshop being closed parents will need to ensure that their child/ren have a packed lunch and full water bottles.
The uniform shop during will still be open until the end of the term 8am-9am.
During the school holidays we will be open by appointment only call or text 0457869194 to book.
From the 20th - 24th January 2025 the Uniform Shop will be open from 9am-3pm daily.
When school resumes on Tuesday, 28 January, we will be open again from 8am-9am school days.
If these hours do not suit some families, they can always contact 0457869194 and we will do our best to accommodate. Families are still able to order uniforms on BigCommerce (link below) however we do not deliver or post these to addresses and they will need to be collected during our opening hours or by appointment.
The next general P&C meeting will be held on the 19th February 2025.

Grab a yummy, refreshing, ice cold mango in a cup!
It's a real treat for our summer days.

There is also an additional option for SRSS & Ownership of an iPad program, as per the below information.
The SRSS & Ownership iPad Program for Grades Prep to Year 2
Students in Prep to Year 2 are provided with access to personalised iPads in class to complete a range of learning activities and tasks as part of the curriculum offerings at Cranbrook State School. From 2024, we have offered iPads as an optional element as part of the Student Resource and Stationery Scheme as well as an option to purchase the iPad if a student leaves Cranbrook State School before Year 2 and at the end of Year 2.
iPads used in this program have been set up for each individual student and are not to be used by others. The iPads are the property of the Queensland Department of Education and Training (DET). In order to maintain the security of the department’s network and individual devices, the devices are managed through DEP (Device Enrolment Program) and MDM (Mobile Device Management). This allows the school to remotely manage and control operating parameters of these devices and track devices in the event they become lost or stolen. It also allows us to deploy specific learning applications and programs to student devices as well as personalised learning resources.
If you choose to participate in the optional iPad element as part of the Student Resource and Stationery Scheme program, you agree to pay an annual cost as part of the Student Resource and Stationery Scheme. This fee equates to $450 over the life of the program (Prep to Year 2). This allows parents, to have their child access their own personal iPad for their time enrolled in Prep to Year 2 at Cranbrook State School, that will remain at school until the end of the program. The final pay-out payment at the end of the program remains the same.
At the end of Year 2, students that have participated in the program for the full 3 years will have the opportunity to purchase an iPad for $25. If they choose this option, the iPad will be factory reset and given to students on their final days of Year 2 to keep. This allows parents to access a brand new device to own for a total cost of $450 compared to the RRP of $650. See the table below for costs and payout figures:
Standard Participation
Commence in Prep | Commence in Year 1 or 2 years use | Commence in Year 2 or 1 year’s use | |
Payment per year | $150 | $150 | $150 |
Total paid by end of year 2 | $450 | $300 | $150 |
Cost to purchase at end of year 2 | $25 + GST | $150 + GST | $300 + GST |
Financial Hardship Participation

PLEASE NOTE: that some students who join the scheme during the three-year period may receive an iPad that is NOT new. The payout figure will be adjusted to the age of the device e.g., a two-year-old device will attract the 2 year use payout figure.

From 2024, we have offered laptops as part of the Student Resource and Stationery Scheme as well as an option to purchase the laptop if a student leaves Cranbrook State School before Year 6 and at the end of Year 6.
If you choose to participate in the Student Resource and Stationery Scheme program, you agree to pay an annual cost as part of the Student Resource and Stationery Scheme. This fee equates to $600 over the life of the program (Year 3 to Year 6). This allows parents, to have their child access their own personal laptop for their time enrolled in Year 3 to Year 6 at Cranbrook State School. The final pay-out payment at the end of the program remains the same.
At the end of Year 6, students that have participated in the program for the full 4 years will have the opportunity to purchase a laptop for $5. If they choose this option, the laptop will be factory reset and given to students on their final days of Year 6 to keep. New!! Community Hub

Hi everyone. I’m Louise. Some of you may know me – I’ve been around here for a while! Well, I have some exciting news to share with you!
In 2025, we will be opening The Hub – Community Hubs Australia’s Cranbrook space. This is a space for YOU. While we will have structured programs in place, The Hub is also for you to connect and contribute, seek and share, or even just simply to stop for a moment to gather yourself.
Currently, we are aiming to have two structured programs in the first half of Term 1: a Coffee and Chat on a Tuesday morning and a Playgroup on a Thursday morning.
In Week 1, The Hub will be opened from 8.30 – 3pm each day. I’d love you to come on over and say hi. We will be located in the demountable building right behind the Groundsman’s Shed, on the Albert Street side of the school.
To enter outside of the normal gate times, you will need to ring the door bell on the Albert Street gate, or call our mobile – the number of which will be advertised in due course.
Updates for The Hub will be advertised via our school Facebook page and our website. So, stay tuned! I’m really looking forward to sharing this space with you all.
If you have any questions, please send me an email: communityhub@cranbrookss.eq.edu.au You can also catch me at the Swimming Carnival next week. I’ll be there selling zooper doopers. Come and say hi!
Thanks everyone! Have a wonderful Christmas!
Bus Service

We are now accepting applications for our 2025 School Bus Collection Service.
Did you know that we offer a pick up/drop off bus service each morning and afternoon? Thanks to our amazing P&C group, who saw the need for us to assist every one of our Cranbrook families, a bus was purchased and is now used for excursions, sporting events, arts events and to help our families get our students to and from school.
Current users will receive preference and then all applications within our zones, will be considered on a 'first come - first served' basis. A two week deposit is required by everyone, to secure your child's position for 2024. To maintain your position on the bus throughout the year, your account must remain in credit. Parents will be advised if their child's collection service will cease due to a $0.00 credit amount.
Please contact our office if you require any further information.
If you are interested in accessing this service for your child, please complete the form (PDF below) and return to the office.
