Principal's Message
Welcome to our Week 6 Newsletter! It has been a very rainy start! Be sure to read through the newsletter so you don’t miss any important updates.

We are still taking 2025 Enrolments now
Enrolments for all year levels are open and Prep enrolments for next year are now welcome. Children born between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020 are eligible to enrol for Prep. Early Entry Applications for students born in July 2020 may also be submitted for consideration. An original birth certificate is essential for enrolment. An enrolment form can be downloaded from this newsletter, our website or parents are welcome to pick up an enrolment pack from our front office.

Medical Information and Parent Contact Update
It is important that all student medical records and parent/emergency contacts are current. If your child has Asthma, Anaphylactic Reactions, Allergies, Diabetes or any medical condition that the school needs to be aware of please make sure that an Action Plan, if necessary, is current. The Action Plan needs to be filled out by a medical practitioner. Please also ensure that the medications held at the school have not passed the use by date.
Parent/Emergency Contact Updates
If you or your emergency contact details have changed please contact the school so your data can be updated.
Make Every Day Count in 2025
Make 2025 the year that your child doesn’t miss a day of school. Research shows that students who have good patterns of attendance are more likely to achieve at school. If students aren’t at school or don’t stay for the whole day, they are missing valuable lessons.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Every Day Counts - Attendance
Regular, punctual attendance at school is expected of all students.
Students should be present at school ready to prepare for the day's learning by 8:30am.

Late Arrivals
Students arriving after 8:50am must report to the office to receive a lateslip. If a student is late, a letter of explanation from the student's parent/guardian must be presented to the office staff on arrival.
Absence
If a student is absent and the parent/guardian has not notified the school, they will receive an automated text message by 10am that day.
Parents will receive a text message informing them that their child is absent. If you receive one of these text messages, please contact the school to explain the reason for your child’s absence.
A working mobile number should be registered with the school, if available.
Please remember that absence is only marked for the days specified by the parents. If you ring up on a Monday informing that your child is sick and they remain away from school for the following 2 days because they are sick you need to inform us that this was the reason for their absence. You can inform us after the absence via a message directly to the teacher or by contacting our absence hotline or email.
If your child is absent, please leave a message detailing:
- Child's name
- Class
- Reason for absence
- Dates or duration of absence

Enviromental Champions of the Week!
Congratulations to 4C on earning the Enviromental Champion award trophy of Week 6! Thank you for continuing to keep Cranbrook Neat and Tidy and taking pride in the schools environment!
The Hub
What a wonderful week the Hub was! We were back in full swing, with lots of opportunity for our community to come in and join us. Up on the wall, is our 'Dot Democracy'. Pop in and add your dot to activities you'd be interested in having available in The Hub. There's also a spot to add your own ideas too.
We had 5 excited little people joining in the activities, songs and stories, at our Playgroup this week. We made name badges to help us build a rapport with each other in the weeks to come.
Thank you to the ladies who joined us today (and those who didn't make it into the photo!) to celebrate International Women's Day. We had a lovely morning together and I think each of us went away knowing each other a little and with encouragement to enjoy today and every day. Congratulations to Miin who won our lucky door prize!
Have a great weekend, everyone. Hope to see more of you next week.

ATTENTION! We have our Lunchbox Lowdown on Wednesday. It's really important to make sure our kids are eating correctly, in order for them to have the best opportunity to develop their bodies and brains. Come along and join us and share some ideas. Attached is an extract from Smart Choices, the Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland Schools is based on the NSW Department of Health and NSW Department of Education and Training Canteen Menu Planning Guide, 2004, which is part of the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy. Take a read for some guidance when packing your child's lunchbox, or just preparing meals at home. Please see the link below!
Deadly Choices

Deadly Choices is a preventative health program of the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH).
It aims to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to make healthy choices for themselves and their families. In partner with local Community Controlled Health Services (CCHS), Deadly Choices encourages mob to regularly access CCHS and complete an annual ‘Health Check’.
The Deadly Choices campaign is proudly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander operated and consists of a wide range of community-focussed activities. All activities have a strong focus on Healthy Lifestyle and Tackling Indigenous Smoking.
Our Story
Introduced in 2010 to educate and empower South East Queensland’s Indigenous populations against the dangers of smoking, Deadly Choices has evolved into Australia’s most successful community-focused preventative health program.
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) created program aims to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to make healthy choices for themselves and their families, including quitting smoking, eating good food, and exercising daily.
Deadly Choices also encourages Mob to access their local health service and complete a 715 Health Check every 9-12 months - normalising the practice of seeing a doctor not just when sick, but to remain healthy; access multi-disciplinary support, and prevent or better manage chronic disease.
