Principal's Message
Welcome to our Week 2 Newsletter!
We encourage you to read through carefully to ensure you don’t miss any important updates or upcoming events.
Welcome back everyone to our next weeks of learning in Term Three.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend a very warm Cranbrook welcome to our new families who are joining us this Term.
It is always wonderful to see all newcomers settle in so quickly and adapt to our daily routines and culture. Term Three is always one of the busiest in every school year. There will no doubt be other activities and events along the way to keep us even busier. If you are not yet following us via Social Media, I encourage you to like our school Facebook page as another way to keep abreast of our news.
QParents
Parents with children at schools using QParents External link can easily access and manage their child's information, complete administrative tasks and stay connected with the school through the application.

- view upcoming events
- access and provide digital consent
- view timetables
- view and update attendance details (including future absences)

Privacy and security
The QParents privacy statement External link outlines how your privacy is protected.
QParents is a secure portal that uses a range of security measures to protect the integrity and privacy of an account owner's personal data. Refer to the fact sheet for parents (PDF, 97KB) for more information about how the department protects personal information.
Uniform Reminder
We kindly remind parents to ensure that students have a spare school uniform, including underwear and socks, packed in their school bag each day. This helps us manage any unexpected accidents or spills that may occur throughout the day. Please note that the office has limited spare uniform items available to loan.
Please see below what is on offer for Extra Curricular Activities for students.

Report Cards will be distributed today by email and paper copy. While no official parent teacher interviews are offered as part of this process, please know that you can request a meeting with your child’s teacher any day about any concern that you have. Our staff email list can be found on our website.

Every Day Counts - Attendance ✔✔✔
Regular, punctual attendance at school is expected of all students.
Students should be present at school ready to prepare for the day's learning by 8:30am.

Late Arrivals
Students arriving after 8:50am must report to the office to receive a lateslip. If a student is late, a letter of explanation from the student's parent/guardian must be presented to the office staff on arrival.
Absence
If a student is absent and the parent/guardian has not notified the school, they will receive an automated text message by 10am that day.
Parents will receive a text message informing them that their child is absent. If you receive one of these text messages, please contact the school to explain the reason for your child’s absence.
A working mobile number should be registered with the school, if available.
Please remember that absence is only marked for the days specified by the parents. If you ring up on a Monday informing that your child is sick and they remain away from school for the following 2 days because they are sick you need to inform us that this was the reason for their absence. You can inform us after the absence via a message directly to the teacher or by contacting our absence hotline or email.
If your child is absent, please leave a message detailing:
- Child's name
- Class
- Reason for absence
- Dates or duration of absence
Absence Hotline - 4726 1260
Absence Email - absences@cranbrookss.eq.edu.au
👍PBL - Positive Behaviour for Learning👍
Last week, our PBL was about following routines and transitions.
This week, we looked at acting safely.
Below is the 'for families' poster of our lessons, which gives you a chance to continue these conversations at home and possibly apply them to your daily family life.
Reminder about Camp Payments!

National Tree Day
Schools Tree Day
The last Friday in July is dedicated to Schools Tree Day. Each year, thousands of schools participate nationwide in environmental activities that educate individuals about the world around them. Activities range from planting bush tucker gardens, building habitat for native wildlife, nature play and more.

100 Days of Prep!
Our Prep students celebrated 100 Days of Prep in style! Dressed as adorable 100-year-olds, they took a walk around to proudly show off their creative costumes. The day was filled with laughter, fun, and engaging classroom activities all centred around the number 100. What a fantastic way to mark such a special milestone in their first year of school!

Challenge Games! 🏆
What a success! Despite the miserable weather, nothing could dampen the spirits of our students and staff. The day was overflowing with fun, laughter, and high energy from start to finish. Everyone embraced the moment with positivity and enthusiasm, making it a truly memorable experience. It was a wonderful reminder that even when the skies are grey, you can't keep our smiles away.

Class Borrowing Days
For students in Prep / Year 1 / Year 2 / Year 3…..you must have a library bag to protect your books.

Please return your child’s home reader and library books on the following days:

The Cranbrook Community Hub 👋

Hello Term 3! We have loads of opportunities for you to join us in The Hub over the next 8 weeks.
The Hub is our adult space. We want our parents/carers to use it for what they need – a bit of rest and respite, a place to safely talk, where to go to meet up with fellow class families and to meet new ones, a place to enjoy activities you may not ordinarily do.
You can find our Hub, by entering via the Albert Street gate, Gate D, near the pedestrian crossing. Come in and take the 1st path to your left. We are in the 2nd building on your left, the room closest to the fence.
Here’s what we have on this week. Don’t panic if you are not right on time for an activity – we’d still love to have you. Just give me a call if you’re unsure.
Monday – Walking Group: we will enjoy a little stroll or a brisk walk, depending on how we’re feeling! We recommend you wear sun protective clothing, enclosed shoes and bring a water bottle. Feel free to then stay around for a coffee.
Tuesday – GenM group: of the mature age group? Our Grandparents, along with a bunch from our wider community in their ‘golden’ years, are enjoying a time of social connection over a cuppa and games. Know anyone who would like this? Please let them know.
Wednesday – It’s Wellness Wednesday. Today we’ll make Friendship Cards to celebrate International Friendship Day.
Thursday – Playgroup! Join us in the OSHC TheirCare building from 9 – 10.30am. We sometimes theme the day, so please let us know if you’d like to be on our mailing list.
Friday – Today is Principal’s Day. Come and help me bake something to give to our Principals, to say thanks and acknowledge the work they do for us, but shhh, don't tell them!
Please contact me at anytime with any questions.

Honouring two decades of advocacy |
Today we unveil ‘Don’t Waste It’ - The Daniel Morcombe Story, a powerful documentary film reflecting on two decades of child safety advocacy from The Daniel Morcombe Foundation. This powerful 30-minute documentary honours Daniel’s legacy and educates teens on personal safety. This film is quite different to all the others we regularly share with you. Heritage Films has had the honour to produce Don't Waste It as part of the Foundation’s incredible 20-year celebrations. What an incredible legacy and what a wonderful way to honour Daniel, Bruce and Denise and the Foundation’s legacy for the way they have tirelessly worked to keep children safe.
