Children enrolled in our program will be involved in numerous literacy, numeracy and physical development activities and we will provide parents and guardians with parent information sessions to become familiar with our school surroundings, staff and school procedures.
To enrol your child into our program, please contact our office on 4726 1222.
Under 8's Day
The theme of this year's Under 8's Day is 'play, playfulness and engaged learners’. Our teachers put together an action-packed morning of activities in our Prep/Year One Oval this Friday to celebrate! A fun morning was had by all children and families who brought in younger siblings to participate.
School Works Progress
Our school is currently undergoing works to install a new school security fence and entry way as well as upgrading and installing a new ninja parc style playground for our senior school. Works are progressing as planned and we continue to thank our Cranbrook families for their consideration of any minor interruptions as they will be well worth it once our projects are completed.
School Uniform Policy
Cranbrook is a uniform wearing school. All students should come dressed each day in the full school uniform:
- Shorts/Skorts
- Polo – school and sports
- HAT (no other hats should be worn and students asked to place non-school hats in their bags
Cranbrook School Uniforms can be purchased from the P & C Uniform Shop located at the back of the Hall.
Academic Achievement Awards
At our Junior and Senior Parades this week, students who achieved three or more A's on their report cards for Semester One were awarded an Academic Achievement Award.
Our Academic Achievement Award recognises students in Years 3 to 6 who achieved three or more A's across all learning areas. Congratulations to these Cranbrook Learners on their outstanding achievement, demonstrating commitment and excellence towards their learning.
Class 4B - Teacher Change
Mr Crowther has been absent for the past two weeks due to unfortunate family demands that has seen him return to his hometown. Mr Crowther has taken this time to assess his situation and has informed us that he will NOT be able to return due to his unavoidable and significant family commitments.
We have been fortunate enough under our teacher resourcing model, that Ms Scipilliti has been able to reengage with the class and continue in the provision of the curriculum in Mr Crowther’s absence. Due to Mr Crowther taking extended leave, for the remainder of 2021, we have been able to source the services of Mr Cameron Turton and he has been appointed to the 4B class for the remainder of 2021. Mr Turton will be starting at Cranbrook on Tuesday 10th August.
Mr Turton is an experienced teacher who has been working at Weir State School for the past Term. Prior to this he has many years’ experience teaching upper primary at the Weir State School and International Schools in Japan. Mr Turton has high expectations of students and has achieved excellent outcomes with students at previous schools in the past.
If parents/guardians of students in the 4B class would like to speak to Mr Turton or Ms Scipilliti regarding their child, it is recommended you contact the office to book an appointment.

What's On in Year One
Fun with Data!
This term, the Year One Cohort is working on creating and analysing data sets. They are using questioning, counting, and comparing to create their own data displays.
One of the pictures below shows 1A’s preferred fruit out of four different options. The students are learning that data can be displayed and interpreted in many different ways and 1A students have been creating their own data displays to place on the classroom Learning Journey Wall.
Students have also been conducting their own surveys using open and closed ended questions to create their own data. From there, the students analyse their own data and then create their own bar graph based on the data they have collected.
In 1A we have found out about preferred pets, lollies, soft drinks, eye colour and so much more!

Absence For More Than 10 Days
What is an exemption and why do I need it?
Every parent of a child of compulsory school age has a legal obligation to ensure their child is enrolled and attending school. Parents can apply for an exemption from this obligation when their child cannot attend or it would be unreasonable in all the circumstances for their child to attend school for a period of more than 10 consecutive school days.
Situations where an application for an exemption may be made include:
- Illness
- Family reasons
- Cultural or religious reasons
If your child is exempt from compulsory schooling, you are excused from your obligation in relation to compulsory schooling.
The school principal is not responsible for providing an educational program for your child, however they may provide advice on other educational options available. Decisions about exemptions for up to one school year are made by the principal and decisions about exemptions for more than one school year are made by the relevant Regional Director of the Department of Education, Training and Employment, responsible for the supervision of the school your child attends.
