2023 sees Cranbrook State School enter its final year of the 2020 to 2023 Strategic Plan and as such we have nearly completed our Quadrennial School Review (QSR) process. We are now in the development phase of the review to develop informed long term strategic foci for 2024 to 2027. The final phase of the review is to form working parties to develop the new strategies against the identified goals. The process will be:
- Review the findings and recommendations from the 2020 to 2023 Strategic plan review.
- Use the findings and recommendations to Develop long term strategies for implementation in the 2024 – 2027 Strategic Plan
To ensure all stakeholders are heard in the process we are seeking support from parents to be involved.
We are seeking support from parents in the development working parties process which will require a 90-minute commitment on Wednesday 13th September of Thursday 14th September to meet as a working party. If you can help, please click YES in the seperate SOBS email that will be sent out to you. We will then contact you, regarding your involvement in the process. Nominations close Tuesday 12th September at 3.00pm.
We hope our Dads enjoyed their special day yesterday.
Have a great week, everyone.

Positive Behaviour for Learning
Congratulations to our Week 7 PBL snappy winner.....Pypah and Week 8 winner, Amelia.
Thanks for being safe, responsible and respectable students, girls.
Recently, we began a 'Golden (or Super) Snap' initiative. Staff have one Golden Snap to award at each duty they attend. Students have the opportunity to earn a Golden Snap at every play break and every lunch break. The snaps then go into the weekly, whole school draw, with the winner being given a $10 tuckshop voucher.
Congratulations to our inaugural winner, Aijana and to our Week 8's winner, Bailey.
In Week 7, our PBL lesson was about respect. Our statement was 'I include everyone'.
In Week 8, we focused on responsibly and actually accepting responsibility for what we do.
Here are the flyers with some handy hints with what and how to chat about this at home.
To finish off our term, in Week 9, we will look at being respectful and respecting others' privacy and property and for Week 10, we will look at being responsible and how to be resilient.
Cranbrook Learning
A huge well done to students who recieved Academic Achiement Awards for Semester 1. Students were required to achieve at least 4 As on their Semester report card. A special mention to Jasmine Eales for achieving an A in every subject and to Skye Pearson for achieving an A in all but one, of her subjects.
Here is a photo of those students - still in their musical makeup!
The next fantasy story we'd like to share with you, is from Year 5 shining star, Odin. Have a read of Odin's great piece for writing!
Look at these fabulous little readers!
We encourage our students to read every night (and every day too!) and reward consistent readers with certificates when they reach various goals.
Well done to these students, who have read for 100 or 150 nights!
In Year 6, students are exploring reversible and irreversible changes in cooking as part of their Science assessment and just look how their bread turned out! Skylah said it was yummy!
Congratulations to Year 5 student Kenzie Seymour on receiving a Principal's Award for her outstanding behaviour on the bus. Kenzie willingly assists the driver and ensures her fellow students are safe, responsible and respectful. Thanks Kenzie - Mrs Ross appreciates you very much!

2023 Eisteddfod
We move on to the Eisteddfod now, beginning this week and with some performances next week also. The link belows will take you to a copy of the note, for you to use as a reference.
We are on stage, so please remember to have a neat and tidy, clean appearance.
Please be on time to school - we don't get to perform if we're late! Students must be in the music room at 8am on the day of their performance in order to get their music shirts on and their names marked off.
If you'd like to come and watch us (and we'd love you to!), tickets to each session are purchased directly from the Civic Theatre. Please contact them directly with any questions you have. Sessions are generally divided up into morning/afternoon/evening. Although our students may perform in the morning session that begins at 9am, for example, they may not go on stage until 10.30am. It is very hard to judge exactly what the time will be for our performances.
It's a busy couple of weeks - thanks for your support, everyone.

Welcoming new staff
Recently we welcomed a few new staff members to our Cranbrook Community.
Have a read and find out a little more about them.....
Deputy Principal - Mr Kyle Sanim
Kyle is a born and bred Townsvillian. Growing up, Kyle played football but now instead of being photographed, he takes his own photographs! Kyle was fortunate enough to have amazing teachers when he was a student. He loved his Year 2 Teacher so much (Mrs O’Connor) he wanted to be like her and support students, so headed off to Uni to do just that. His favourite food - steak! Favourite colour - black. Kyle has 3 beautiful daughters: Asta (9), Lacee (3 ½), and Lexi (1), that keeps him busy! On the weekends, he likes spending time with my family, particularly getting out to his wife’s parents farm and taking photos.
2C Teacher - Mrs Kate Dowzall
Kate was born in Whakatane, a small town in the Bay of Plenty, in New Zealand. As a child, I rode and competed horses. Once I left school, I worked at Riding for the Disabled training horses. It was here that I discovered my love for teaching and it wasn't long after that I started University. I don't really have a favourite food, although I do have a sweet tooth. My favourite colour is pink and on the weekend, when I have a chance, I like to take to the skies as I'm part way through my private pilot licence. Other than that, I just love spending time outdoors with my daughter and husband.
Chaplain - Tim Canavan
Chappy Tim, as he is affectionately know as, was born in Melbourne, moved to PNG when he was 5 and then moved to Townsville when he was 18. Growing up, he loved fishing and playing soccer. Tim became a Chaplain because he loves supporting people on their life journey. As a chaplain, Tim has that opportunity as he supports students and staff, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Seeing people grow in who they are, is especially incredible for Tim to witness - he loves when they have a life changing light bulb moment. Give Tim lasagne or anything with seafood and he's a happy man! Tim's favourite colour? Deep Blue - actually, to be precise, Dulux Wing Commander. On the weekends, Tim loves to get out fishing, watch sport and go to church.
Welcome Kyle, Kate and Tim - thanks for being at Cranbrook!
Adopt-a-Cowboy Visit
Last week, we were unlucky that our regular Cowboy, Riley Price, was unable to visit us, but super lucky that Brendan Elliott could take his place!
2A started by telling Brendan how we’ve been using iPads as a learning tool in the classroom, and showcased how we use them. For example....using One Note for accessibility for learning areas, using education subscriptions to assign tasks, using photography to capture moments and share them on our class page. Then we had Michael and Charlotte host their first ever podcast with Brendan as their first special guest. They asked many interesting questions and Brendan was very impressed with them. After this we asked some more questions about Brendan at the Cowboys and what he does outside of footy. Finally Brendan spoke with the leads of the musical about the similarities between sport and theatre and accepting your responsibility by turning up for the people alongside you.
Thanks for coming along, Brendan - we loved it!
