Principal's Message
Welcome to our Week 8 Newsletter! 2 more weeks to go! Be sure to read through the newsletter so you don’t miss any important updates.
Electronic Devices
Electronic Devices (other than approved laptops) MUST be handed in when students arrive at school - NOT at 8.30am.
QSchools App
Don’t forget: Cranbrook State School provides our parents with another option to increase the convenience around school finances. Parents are able to pay all school payments (SRS, Camps, Excursions, Guitar Lessons, Swimming Lessons, Sports, Performances) and all TUCKSHOP ORDERS online.
Take a look and see how it works:
https://vimeo.com/185558039
https://vimeo.com/185424478

QSchools App
Our school is committed to keeping all parents fully informed on up and coming events and opportunities to become involved in your child’s education. The QSchools app will assist you to stay up to date on all of our school’s events. To download the QSchoolsApp and receive the latest news on our school, simply go to the iTunes store or Google Play and search for ‘QSchools’ or use the following link for more information:
https://alt-qed.qed.qld.gov.au/about-us/department-apps/qschools
The staff carpark is for staff
Please do not park in there when picking up your children after school. Parents are reminded that the school staff car park is not a safe place for children to be delivered or collected from school. If you do need to legitimately come in to the school carpark, please remember not to park in our designated bus areas.
A reminder also, that dropping students off on or near the pedestrian crossing on Bergin Road is also very unsafe as it endangers the lives of children using the crossing correctly.
School Hats
Some students have reported their hats have gone missing. The chances of their hat going missing could be greatly reduced by writing the child's name (or Initials/symbol) on the OUTSIDE brim instead of on the inside. A supervising staff member can then easily see if the hat belongs to that student. Staff, especially teachers, do not have the time to do hat inspections as we are busy teaching your child the Australian Curriculum as well as catering for their physical, social and emotional needs.
Remember: No Cranbrook Hat = No Play.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Every Day Counts - Attendance
Regular, punctual attendance at school is expected of all students.
Students should be present at school ready to prepare for the day's learning by 8:30am.

Late Arrivals
Students arriving after 8:50am must report to the office to receive a lateslip. If a student is late, a letter of explanation from the student's parent/guardian must be presented to the office staff on arrival.
Absence
If a student is absent and the parent/guardian has not notified the school, they will receive an automated text message by 10am that day.
Parents will receive a text message informing them that their child is absent. If you receive one of these text messages, please contact the school to explain the reason for your child’s absence.
A working mobile number should be registered with the school, if available.
Please remember that absence is only marked for the days specified by the parents. If you ring up on a Monday informing that your child is sick and they remain away from school for the following 2 days because they are sick you need to inform us that this was the reason for their absence. P.E Class of the Week!
Our P.E Class of the week for week 8 goes to..... 4D! Congratulations!
Year 4 Learning
This term, students in 4D have been having a blast exploring directional concepts with Blue-Bots! These small, interactive robots help learners develop problem-solving, sequencing, and directional skills in a fun and engaging way. Students in 4D have been programming their Blue-Bots to navigate mazes, follow set paths, and even complete challenges for their assessments. It’s been an exciting way to bring STEM learning to life in the classroom! Stay tuned for more tech adventures! 🚀✨
Year 4 Learning

The Year 4 students have been channelling their inner Soil Scientists, diving into the exciting world of erosion! They got their hands dirty building cool models and then watched in awe as water poured over them, seeing firsthand how the landscape changes. Talk about science in action!
The Year 4 students have been absolutely crushing it with their skipping skills! Not only have they been perfecting their regular skips, but they've also been mastering the ultra-cool "doubles" skip, a move that looks like something out of a skipping championship! And who taught them this epic skill, you ask? The one and only, fantastically talented Mr Stockman of course!
With his expert guidance, the school has been a full-on skipping extravaganza this week. What an incredible accomplishment!
Mr Stockman should definitely get a trophy for being the “Ninja Skipping King”.
Well done to the year 4's for taking it so seriously and being so determined to be the best skippers!
Miss Match Day!

The Cranbrook Community Hub

Hi everyone.
It's been rather quiet this week. Hope our families have been ok throughout this extended period of rain.
We did have a lovely chat on Tuesday morning with our Chaplain, Chappy Tim and some of our Cranbrook and community Grandparents. We did, of course, enjoy celebrating National Chocolate Caramel Day too, with some yummy creations.
Tuesday mornings are our casual Coffee and Chat sessions, which are open to everyone. Please come and join us - even if it's for just a little bit of time.

We have some news regarding our Playgroup. As of this coming Thursday, 27 March, our Playgroup will now be run by community group, Play Matters. The details are as follows:
* Thursday mornings
* 9 - 10.30am
* In the TheirCare OSHC building - entry is via Albert Street
I will still be there to assist, chat to you and help your children play and learn with others. It should be great!
Tell your family - tell your friends and come along.

Here's what's happening this coming week in The Hub:

Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

Deadly Choices

Deadly Choices is a preventative health program of the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH).
It aims to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to make healthy choices for themselves and their families. In partner with local Community Controlled Health Services (CCHS), Deadly Choices encourages mob to regularly access CCHS and complete an annual ‘Health Check’.
The Deadly Choices campaign is proudly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander operated and consists of a wide range of community-focussed activities. All activities have a strong focus on Healthy Lifestyle and Tackling Indigenous Smoking.
Our Story
Introduced in 2010 to educate and empower South East Queensland’s Indigenous populations against the dangers of smoking, Deadly Choices has evolved into Australia’s most successful community-focused preventative health program.
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) created program aims to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to make healthy choices for themselves and their families, including quitting smoking, eating good food, and exercising daily.
Deadly Choices also encourages Mob to access their local health service and complete a 715 Health Check every 9-12 months - normalising the practice of seeing a doctor not just when sick, but to remain healthy; access multi-disciplinary support, and prevent or better manage chronic disease.

Sports Pride Fridays

Students are wholeheartedly encouraged to wear their sports shirts every Friday, creating an exciting tradition that fosters a strong sense of school spirit and unity across the entire school. Friday is no ordinary day, it’s a chance for the students to show off their team pride while coming together with their fellow classmates. It’s not just about the shirts, it’s about the energy, the excitement, and the shared sense of being a part of a team! Fridays wouldn’t be complete without some enthusiastic practice of their war cries! (not screams). It’s a time for students to perfect their chants, get pumped up, and prepare for the upcoming events with even more passion and enthusiasm. Fridays are all about building camaraderie and getting ready for the action-packed moments ahead.
